Each cast only takes a few minutes, however I like to allow approximately 1 hour for the casting session to enable your baby or child to relax and feel comfortable.
This also allows enough time to choose the frame, customized plaque details and colors for the casts.
If there are multiple casts to collect, then the casting session may take longer, I will let you know approximately how long the session will be at the time of your booking.
I only ever use the highest quality products for your casts.
My alginate is a 100% non-toxic dental grade product so you can be assured that it is the safest to use on your baby, and it takes only seconds to set.
The babies hand/foot is submerged into the alginate briefly, after approximately 30 seconds then the hand/foot is gently pulled out.
Some newborns don't like the process (just as they don't like nappy changes) as they can find the alginate to be an unusual texture and cold.
However, the casting process doesn't hurt.
Most babies are too busy looking around and are not bothered at all.
Most casts have some minor flaws to them when they first turn out, such as air bubbles, which can easily be corrected.
My main priority is to provide you with a keepsake that you absolutely love so if there is anything I am concerned about or any imperfections due to excess movement during the casting process, a second casting session may be required and this will be done at no extra cost.
Yes, I strive to provide you with excellent customer service and to also make sure you are kept up to date with the progress of your order.
You will receive a summary after your appointment so that you can check that I have noted your order correctly.
You will also receive a sneak peak photo of your cast once I have demolded - how exciting!
Payments can be made by cash, Paypal, or bank transfer prior to collection.
Yes, a 50% deposit is required when the impressions are taken.
The remaining balance is required when collecting the finished product.
I do all my work in my home studio, which is located in Western Sydney, Cambridge Gardens.
There is plenty of parking either in the driveway or on the street.
I can take castings at any age.
I can do from premmie babies right up to adults.
However, if you were to ask me what the ideal age is with babies, that would be between newborn and 12 weeks as you really want to capture just how little they once were.
As we all know how quickly they grow so the earlier the better.
However, no matter the age, I can guarantee you a keepsake that you will treasure for a lifetime.
The person who is having the impressions taken should wear clothes that can be easily removed or pulled up.
It is possible for the alginate to stick to your clothes, it can easily be removed by scraping it off but just to be safe I like to ask that you don't wear anything that might be easily ruined.
